Happy customers

I have had some very happy customers recently and really appreciate how many take the time to write and tell me how pleased they are with my cushions. This cushion has been selling at an amazing rate overnight and thanks to another customer I was able to find it featured here

Such a fantastic picture too don't you think? It has been selling from my Dawanda shop but is also available on Etsy and Folksy for international and UK customers

Edited to add: As of lunchtime today I have sold out of this design! I am waiting on some more fabric so fingers crossed they will be back in my shops soon, I'll keep you posted x

In my garden

Really loving some of the flowers in my garden, above is a hanging basket.

They are all enjoying the extreme weather we are having down south at the moment.

How delicious is that purple, I planted this to climb with an Albertine rose that you can see just behind it, the are starting to find each other, hopefully next year the effect will be complete.

Greys Court

Today has been a dull old day in the UK so I have made the most of my time sewing up stock for orders and shops. However this evening I remembered some photos I had taken on a day out a couple of weeks ago to Greys Court near Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire. The house is currently under restoration but the gardens are open and I love them. It is one of those gardens with lots of rooms and a kitchen garden.
Peas scrambling up homemade supports of various designs, low and rounded..........

tall and pointy. I always love being able to see the design of the frames, in some ways it is a shame they will eventually be covered by a tangle of branches.

What is that little bird saying?

Look at this little viola house on the old crumbling wall........

and then I found some photos of my garden, the ferns are coming up by my homemade screen. I weave extra bits of silver birch branches into this, which drop from the tree in my neighbours garden. The birds help themselves to it for nest material too!
And this beauty, that I just don't know the name of, was a seedling brought by the birds.
Tomorrow looks like being another busy sewing day........ hmmmm not a bad life eh?

Something new

Today I have been working on some new ideas that have been bubbling for some time. Working with fabric made me want to apply more of my own ideas to the fabric and so I have been venturing into some simple screen printing, which I have now combined with some freehand machine embroidery.
It has been difficult to find the time to develop these ideas in between my regular orders and family stuff, but it is finally coming together and I am rather pleased.

The effect is reminiscent of 50s illustration and I have some more bird designs on the go too, which are quite comical given the irregular nature of embroidery. These designs are destined for purses and cushions to start,.............. hope you like!
Have a lovely weekend, for those of you celebrating Mothers Day here in the UK, enjoy, it is well deserved!

Spring is springing!

I have filled the mantlepiece with spring this week
Sweet little pots of tete a tete daffodils

The first of my hellebores opened!

and the snowdrops, cover the garden.
The snowdrops remind me of my grandfather as they were his favourite flower and it is only recently that I discovered the possible reason why. He was born on Valentines day ( Louis Valentine Valdemar quite an amazing name don't you think?) and the snowdrop is the traditional Valentines flower rather than the rose! I picked a few in a vase and love the way they spread open their petals in the wamth of the house.
