Karen McPhail ceramics

While blog browsing this morning I fell in love with the work of Karen McPhail as featured on Bloesem blog. She trained many years ago but stopped working when she had children worked for some time in pre school care and has now returned to making (sounds familiar!) and is now producing the most stunning ceramics using transfers and glazes with a wonderful collage style.

You can see her work here and it is also for sale here.

Cushions in Copenhagen

Today some shots from a customer, Tina Fussell, who purchased some covers from me and kindly sent me pictures, which are also featured on her blog Flying House by Traveling Mama
There are lots more beautiful shots of her apartment in Copenhagen on her blog. Her home is a beautiful mix of old and new, it is effortlessly stylish, but most importantly it is a real lived in home, and that is so good to see. Not only can you see her home on her blog but also super style blog Decor8 who have a feature on her apartment (and yes my covers are there too! eeeek!)

You might also like to check out Tinas etsy store where she sells cards and jewellery and also here where she and her husband collaborate in the most beautiful photos.

I am hoping to set up a gallery on my blog of home shots with my covers in as I have quite a few squirrelled away. If you have photos you would like to share let me know, I would love to see them, it is a real treat to see how my covers look in their new homes!

Pins

A little while ago I was told by a friend about Pinterest, and so now as well as reading blogs while I have my coffee I can also lose myself in this feast of visuals. Pinterest works like a scrapbook, you can 'pin' images from the net and collect them on your own pinboards with various themes. You can also follow other peoples boards and repin their images onto your own. I love it, such a simple way to collect together ideas and inspiration.

You can follow my boards by clicking on the Pinterest button to the right of my blog.

From the Wilde

I am delighted to now have Thirtyfive Flowers cushions and purses available at From the Wilde! They are keeping company with some fantastic designers from around the UK and right now my yellow connections cushion is right up there on the front page, bringing out the sun!

I am also thrilled that my own printed purses are included, soon to be followed by some new designs, busy, busy!

I was thrilled this morning to see this photo from Kristin at KLTWorks of her gorgeous home and two of my vintage covers looking so stunning next to her own designs. Check out her blog for a further sneak peek of her home, which is a colour filled space with great mix of new and vintage style.Link

Latest additions

I've added to my new purses this weekend and am particularly pleased with the vintage olive green lining in the top one
and the brushed brass frame on the red.

In the shop.

Thankyou to everyone who commented on my last post, here again (thankyou to Blogger for losing the original post) is a finished purse that is now available to buy in my etsy store. I have also printed up some more colourways which will be made up and listed this weekend. Also some new blocks arrived today so I've been working out a new pattern.

Today I said a final goodbye to a very lovely lady who has been a wonderful neighbour and friend. Her passion for art and creativity was infectious and I will hold her very dear in my heart for many years to come. So this post is dedicated to Lorna.

Slightly scary

No probably not for you, but it is for me, as I work on my printed fabrics and get closer to having something I feel I can put out there as a finished design, I suffer from a kind of stage fright.
So to get over this and keep me going, I made up one purse using the fabric I printed at the weekend. It is totally impractical with this white background so won't be for sale, but I like seeing how the pattern works on the purse and I am hoping to find some good linen colour yardage to print up a better one.

Your comments will be really appreciated on this one xx

One of the first designers to catch my eye when I originally joined the etsy site is Heather Moore, her work which she creates under the title skinnylaminx extends through illustration, printmaking and some of the most incredible paper cut work.

Her work and style has been a huge inspiration over the last few years and I have a number of items around my house which I have bought from her. When I recently asked if she would mind me using some of her Orla print for my purses I was totally thrilled when she said yes!

I had to wait for these brushed brass frames to arrive as they suit the print colours perfectly, and making them this morning gave me a real thrill as they came together, I am so delighted with how they have turned out.
They are available now in my etsy store I just have one problem I am going to make one for me but cannot decide which colour, grey, lemon or olive.........this could take some time!

Inspiration

I have acquired new followers to my blog over the last few days, hello, thankyou for visiting. I do try to get to visit everyones blog and comment, so I do regular blog reading sessions which are always inspiring and exciting.
I have added a couple of new covers to my shop recently and there are more to come, but lately I have been occupied in the garden and allotment enjoying this very non-UK weather. I have been sowing seeds and making plans for a redesign on our garden, but also I have been inspired by the lady we stayed with in France whose approach to life clearly led her to a more contented outlook than our frantic style. So I am trying to take time over things and not be trapped by the rush of life around me. The results for her were that at 69 she looked like a very young 50 and her calmness and love of life were an absolute pleasure to share.
